Eventbrite are spreading the love with their new, simplified sign-up for free events.
Free events usually don’t need the bells, whistles and options that fee-paying events might need. Applying the KISS principle (“Keep it Simple, Stupid”) Eventbrite have created a one-click method for people to register for free events.
This is how it works: Your attendee arrives at your event page. The page itself is very simple, showing just the basic information: event title, location, map and details about the event. At the top of the page is a huge (and I mean HUGE) ‘Sign up with Facebook’ button. This button is impossible to miss. This click the button and in the blink of an eye they are registered.
The screen changes on registration to show a picture of the attendee and a very reassuring “You’re going!” message. Also on this page they have Facebook sharing option that will encourage them to get the word out.
If the attendee does not have a Facebook account they can sign up with just their email address.
Of course, for a free event you could just use Facebook events and not bother with Eventbrite. However, the Eventbrite system allows you to tap-into other social networks (like Twitter and LinkedIn) and gives you better reporting and functionality such as ticketing and email confirmations. In other words you get to be more professional and organized and still not spend any money.
